MAGOK ARCHIPELAGO

Archipelago, the Magok Urban Park is to be an element in the chain of spaces of the great Han River Park.

The water that is naturally present in what was previously marshlands becomes the central elements in the various geography of this wide space. Water inflows for urban zones and polluted rivers. It has to be treated, passing through purification marshlands that have an educational purpose.


It becomes then an Urban lake for leisure, bordered with various public programs, to finally get to the Marina and to Han River. The Park space is organized around a "head gate" visible from Han River and containing a sluice gate, a dozen of Islands with different sizes and programs, all connected by bridges and catwalks.


This surreal landscape refers biological shapes of bacterial species, secretly working in the marhs waters.

마곡 아키펠라고는 한강공원과 연계된 워터프론트 공원계획이다. 홍수를 대비한 한강변 제방을 수문형으로 변경, 선박의 마곡지구 내 진입이 가능하게 하여 한강의 수상교통 및 레저의 주된 거점이 되도록 한다는 서울시의 미래 계획은 지하철9호선과 인천공항철도가 계획 지역 안에 신설되며 생기는 새로운 육상 교통 질서와 만나게 된다. 대상지는 한강을 향해 흐르며 마지막으로 지나며 저지대 습지를 형성하는 물의 이미지가 매우 강한 곳이다. 전체 계획은 물의 순환에 대한 생태적 리포트가 공간에 쓰여진다는 생각으로 진행되었다.


도시에서 쓰여진 오염된 물은 처리되어 빗물과 함께 한강에 방출되고 있다. 오염된 물의 생물학적 재생의 과정들, 즉 연속되는 습지들이 조경의 일부가 되고, 수생동식물이 독특한 풍경을 편성하게 된다. 또한 이렇게 생물학적으로 재생된 물은 수영장이나 생활용수로 활용되며, 휴식을 위해 조성된 풍경이 지속가능한 환경으로 지역주민들에게 경험될 것이다.


다수의 크기가 다른 섬들은 수영장, 야외 음악당, 까페/레스토랑, 피크닉 언덕 등의 공공레저 프로그램과 생태적 프로그램을 수용하며 서로 다리와공중산책로 연결되어 있고, 한강변에 이르면 수문을 포함한 헤드 게이트를 만나게 된다.


마곡 아키펠라고의 섬과 다리들은 비밀스럽게 증식하며 일하는 박테리아의 생물학적 형태에서 영향 받은 것이기도 하다.

BAR in APGUJOENG

The wine bar space had to be colorful and vibrant. Bright wine colors fade into each other, from pale green to deep purple. A curved wood stick partitions create soft separations between space and visually interact with the colors. This version of the design no longer exist in its original from.

3 HOUSES in GURI

Three houses had to coexist close to a pear orchard.


In a shape inspired by the Hanok traditional Korean house typology, the base of the houses contained rooms in close contact with the garden platforms, on top of which the living-dining areas were visually opened to the beautiful surroundings. Three wide and powerful roof contained master bedrooms attic space.


Recalling a traditional arrangement, the roofs, while distinct, are composed to create a compact visual ensemble.

NATIONAL KAOHSIUNG PERFORMING ARTS CENTER

Dragon flux, a powerful symbol of culture for Kaohsiung, reflects the energy of a landscape, the complexity of historical layers. The circumvoluting body of the dragon drives the energy of the crowd, the audience desire for a new experience. The double-curved layers of perforated structural walls generates a succession of spaces. Traditional carved wood panels are inspiring a solution of structural continuity and visual filter. it is a ornament as well as a protective skin.


A reflecting lake collects the water site's and cools the air for the public terrace and the dressing rooms.

Dragon flux는 카오슝 문화의 강력한 힘을 상징하며 도시 경관과 적층된 역사의 복합성을 반영한다. 전체 평면의 휘돌아 감는 용의 몸체는 관객의 에너지, 새로운 경험에 대한 욕구를 의미한다.


이중 곡면벽은 구조벽체이며 공간의 연속성을 창출한다. 전통적 문살무늬에서 공간적 연속성과 시각적 필터에 대한 영감을 얻었으며, 이는 장식적이며 동시에 보호막의 역할을 한다.


한편, 부지내 유수는 호수로 흘러들어 냉방용으로 활용되며, 관객용 테라스와 드레싱룸을 식히는데 쓰인다.

COMPETITION

A sharp knife cut trough the land...A section through the stone, going back to ancient times...


This space is a geological event, intensively related to the ground, exploring tensions between massive blocks of stone.

process models

The facade is a sharp cutting surface, shiny and reflective stainless steel. The different angles of the structural columns recompose an impressionist version of the Hantan valley landscape.


땅속에서 발견된 선사 유적들을 전시하는 이곳에서 지층의 이미지를 재현하고자 하였다. 칼로 예리하게 잘려진 지층의 단면 사이로 고대의 시간 속으로 들어가면, 내부에서는 적층된 돌과 무거운 블록간의 긴장감을 느끼게 된다.

입 면은 각도가 다른 스테인레스스틸 바와 유리소재로 이루어져, 매끈하게 잘려진 단면과 같은 질감 및 표면반사를 일으킨다. 주변 계곡의 풍경을 시시때때로 인상주의적으로 비춰주는 것이다.

COMPETITION

A beautiful place, a valley that has been left inbuilt was to be on the opposite of the new Performing Arts Center.

Artificial hills recycled from the infrastructures grounds would block off the noise from the highways and the bridges, creating a quiet valley, discovered only by walking out the densely planted parking lot. Finally, the audience would discover the stage inserted in the landscape.

During the winter, the valley would shelter a skating ground.

우리는 오브제적 건축물이 아니라, 외부에서 독립적 건축물로 인지되지 않으면서 아름다운 장소를 만들어서, 건립예정인 노들섬 예술센터와 형태적 경쟁관계가 아닌 보완적 이웃관계를 준비하였다.

인공 언덕들은 기능적으로 한강철교와 한강 남북변 도로 및 한강대교로부터의 소음을 차단하며, 공간적으로는 도로-잔디주차장-언덕사이-야외 음악당의 변화 있는 연속성을 만들어낸다.

사람들은 소음과 고요의 대비, 공간적 발견의 놀라움을 경험하며, 인공적 지형이 만들어내는 비대칭적이고 부드러운 이 공간이 마치 오래 전부터 존재했던 것처럼 느끼게 된다.

The Seoul International Cartoon and Animation Festival is a yearly event, where Korean and Foreign Comic artist are exhibited.

In collaboration with the Exhibition Management team, we were involved in various levels of design, from general exhibition layout to exhibition space and graphical design, for the 2005, 2006 and 2007 editions.

서울 국제 만화애니메이션 페스티벌은 연례 행사로서 대한민국과 외국 작가들의 작품이 소개되고 있다.

전시디자인은 작품세계에 들어가는 길을 만들어주면서 그 방법이 재미있어야 한다.

SICAF 2006-Exhibition Design

조명과 전시방식, 대규모 인쇄물, 단독전시실 또는 미로구성 등은 관람객들이 각각의 작품 세계로 빠져들게 하는 장치들이다. 우리는 3년에 걸쳐 기획전시 디자인을 하였다.

The wide marshlands of Salburua are populated by many precious species of flowers and migrating birds.The aim of the environmental centre is to provide a place for education,walkers and scientific research based on this environment.The marsh is vast,open and flat.

Its limits are vague, fluctuating with the rhythm of the seasons, the water level and the flowers. The crossings of these elements define the project’s spaces; overlapping pathways delimit interior roof and floor, retaining walls push back ground to create space.


살부루아 습지대는 스페인 북부 비토리아 지방 경계에 있으며, 광활한 지역에 다양한 철새와 꽃들이 번식하는 곳이다. 이러한 풍요로운 자연 환경을 배경으로, 교육과 연구 및 탐방관련 시설을 주프로그램으로 에코센터를 계획하였다. 대상 지역은 매우 넓고 평탄하게 펼쳐져 있으며, 계절과 수심 및 식생에 따라 그 경계가 변화하기 때문에 습지대를 명확히 구분하기는 어렵다.프로젝트의 공간은 주변 자연환경 안으로 침투하듯 펼쳐진다. 예를 들어, 목재 산책로나 옹벽은 어느 순간 다리나 테라스 또는 지붕으로 변화되며, 확장되는 공간을 보여준다.
